The Research and Evaluation unit within the Center for Health Policy and Research assessed a policy developed by MassHealth in consultation with the Office of Clinical Affairs and highlighted the results in both a presentation and journal article. The evaluation suggests that Massachusetts' dose-based prior authorization policy may be a model for other states that are concerned about diversion of buprenorphine among individuals with opioid dependence. The work was supported by a grant from the National Institute of Drug Abuse.
